Position Number & Title: 01J- Content Producer/Assistant Music Director

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Creates chart listings for regular top 10 & specially themed episodes, derived from official music charts
  • Provides scripting and content onto each episode in the podcast including news and information about the songs featured
  • Works with other content producer/assistant music director, which includes reporting all duties to the lead content producer and lead music director
  • Support and/or recommend a decision made by the lead on music submissions on the podcast
  • Able to demonstrate high proficiency in the English language; basic comprehension of Japanese is an asset but not required
  • Must have some availability during the weekends

Position Number & Title: 02J- Audio Producer/Content Distributor

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Edits and creates each episode that they are responsible for, through gathering and mixing audio files together
  • Listens to the audio recordings made by the host and ensures they are free of mistakes
  • Ensures the script created by the content producer is free from content errors
  • Listens to episodes edited by other members on the team, including but not limited to on-air hosts and ensures quality assurance
  • Reports all work back to the lead audio producer to ensure they have met the required goals
  • Releases episodes edited by oneself and episodes that have been quality assured
  • Able to demonstrate basic audio and/or video editing skills, utilizing any well-known software
  • Must have some availability during the weekends and on Mondays and Tuesdays

Position Number & Title: 03J- On-Air Host

Estimated amount of work: Average one episode bi-monthly, can increase up to three episodes per month during holiday/summer seasons

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Records their own voice to provide hosting for an episode on the podcast
  • Follows the provided script & song charts, complemented with additional personal commentary
  • May need to work with the sales manager to create an audio advertisement for potential advertisers
  • May be selected to participate in hosting the top 25 English songs countdown show
  • May need to edit and create episodes that they are responsible for, through gathering and mixing audio files together
  • Some experience with audio and/or video editing is an asset, though not required
  • Must have basic comprehension skills with the English language with an emphasis towards fluent speaking and talking
  • Must have some availability during the weekends and Mondays and/or Tuesdays
  • Participates on a quarterly basis to write song reviews; 10 songs selected by the music director will be sent to host

Position Number & Title: 04J- Language Translator Specialist

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Responsible for translating various podcast related material from English to Japanese that will be used online and on social media
  • Responsible for recording on-air announcements in Japanese with instructions provided from another staff member such as the host, audio producer or program director
  • Provide support in translating websites to support to the Content Producer at creating commentary content for the podcast
  • Support potential advertisers for the podcast at translating their material into Japanese which can also include announcing their message in Japanese
  • Respond and reply to listener emails or messages written in Japanese
  • Must have intermediate comprehension skills with the English and Japanese language with an emphasis on reading, writing and oral communication
  • Previous experience in communications and/or translating work is an asset, but not necessary

Position Number & Title: 05J- Radio Program/Music Director (for our radio station, NOT podcast)

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Responsible for creating the content and music scheduling on our internet radio channel
  • Reviews over all current music tracks; ensures all tracks are properly labeled and edited for radio play
  • Adds new or removes tracks to the current playlist that follow within the genre and the needs of the listeners, with assistance of the radio on-air host
  • Initiates promotional material regarding the radio program for the podcast and within the radio program (ie, filler ads)
  • Communicates any listener feedback to the general manager and appropriately collaborates with the team to revise radio programing accordingly
  • Previous experience in online or terrestrial radio broadcasting is highly recommended
  • Must have a general degree of knowledge in the Japanese music industry and culture
  • Ability to engage in audio editing through the use of softwares such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, etc. is an asset, not required
  • Must have basic comprehension skills with the English language; knowledge of the Japanese language is an asset, though not required

Position Number & Title: 06J- Radio On-Air Host (for our radio station, NOT podcast)

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Provides voicing for the radio station, including announcements, certain song promos, promotional content on our podcast and various voicing needs for the radio station
  • May need to work with the sales manager to create an audio advertisement for potential advertisers
  • Collaborates with the music/program director to introduce new tracks onto the radio station and/or remove certain tracks
  • Must have basic comprehension skills with the English language with an emphasis towards fluent speaking and talking; knowledge in Japanese is an asset, not required
  • Ability to engage in audio editing through the use of softwares such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, etc. is an asset, not required
  • Some level of knowledge about Japanese music is an asset, not required

  • Updates the podcast’s social media pages with relevant news, information and content on a continual basis
  • Interact with listeners on social media
  • Able to demonstrate high proficiency in the English language; basic comprehension of Korean is an asset but not required
  • Must have some availability during the weekends and on some weekdays

Position Number & Title: 01M- Social Media Coordinator

Estimated amount of work: Minimally, social media pages should be updated once a week

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Updates the podcast’s social media pages (for both KTop 10 and Japan Top 10) with relevant news, information and content relevant to the podcast’s audience members on a regular basis
  • Creates new social media accounts for the podcast(s) and responsible for updating/maintaining the new social media accounts
  • Answers to fan messages on social networking sites UNLESS the question asked is not known by the social media coordinator or needs approval from another member on the podcast or written in a language other than English
  • Previous experience in communications and/or social media engagement is an asset, though not necessary
  • High interest in both the J-Pop and K-Pop community and music scene; has a basic understanding of the popular and reliable sites used for sharing such relevant news
  • Must have basic comprehension skills with the English language; knowledge of the Korean and/or Japanese language is an asset, though not required
  • Guides new and current members on the podcast on the usage of the social media pages, if applicable to their roles and/or interest

Position Number & Title: 02M- Sales Manager

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Communicates with third party companies for advertising partnerships
  • Proactively reaches out to advertisers for potential partnerships
  • Able to use statistics provided to determine advertising rates
  • Responsible for the sustainment and adjustment of donation drives
  • May collaborate with other members on the podcast to help create advertising material
  • Previous experience working in sales/marketing is an asset, though not required
  • Must have basic comprehension skills with the English language; knowledge of the Korean and/or Japanese language is an asset, though not required
  • Please note once you start the position, you will need to present a tangible, specific and detailed plan (known as a SMART goal) to the senior members of the podcast regarding how you plan to increase funding to our podcast

Position Number & Title: 03M- Human Resources Director

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Seeks out members of the public to join the podcast through various methods of advertising, depending on the needs of the podcast
  • Responsible for interview screening for potential interested members on the podcast and creates questions to be asked during the interview
  • On-boarding new staff members of the podcast with respect to general staff responsibilities
  • Instructs the standards of expectations for staff members on the podcast
  • Sets scheduling amongst all staff members and manages scheduling conflicts that may occur amongst members
  • Facilitates communication between different team members, managers and public relations
  • Provides performance appraisals for production members
  • Can demonstrate excellent communication skills and high proficiency in the English language
  • Previous experience in human resources is an asset, though not required
  • Previous experience with working on a media based organization is highly recommended

Position Number & Title: 04M- Graphics Designer

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Create graphics that are to be used on the podcast’s online presence including but not limited to the website and social media pages
  • Provides visual imaging/branding of the overall podcast
  • May need to work with the sales manager to create advertising and promotional content
  • May need to provide assistance to the application team for designs and assets
  • Experience with computer softwares to execute designs (ex. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is an asset, though not required
  • A submission of a personal portfolio is welcomed for this position, but will be done after the interview (not required)
  • Must have basic comprehension skills with the English language; knowledge of the Korean and/or Japanese language is an asset, though not required

Position Number & Title: 05M- Video Producer

Responsibilities and basic key skills/qualifications:

  • Produces original J-Pop and K-Pop related content using information provided by the content producer
  • Understands the copyright rules governing YouTube
  • Works in collaboration with all hosts so they can provide narration to the videos
  • Able to video edit all productions through utilizing a professionally recognized computer software and familiar with audio production
  • Previous experience in video making is highly recommended
  • Must have basic comprehension skills with the English language; knowledge of the Korean and/or Japanese language is an asset, though not required
