MTI Countdown Alumni!

This page is dedicated to remember all of our hosts that have contributed to hosting the MTI Countdowns. The class that the person graduated from indicates when they announced their official departure. Unless otherwise noted, any other future appearances from a host that has officially announced their departure, would end up being considered a “guest host” and thus, does not influence the class they graduated. Ex. A person who said they would be leaving in 2012 would be in the class of 2012 regardless if they come back to a special MTI Top 50 episode.

Our current class members who have not yet graduated (AKA, our current hosts) will be indicated at the very bottom (we put them in just to congratulate their seniority).

The number of episodes listed beside each host includes any type of recorded voice from the host, even if it is just a simple “hi”.

How you began on the MTI: I was also part of Producer Jack’s YouTube “videos” team back in 2008 and he wanted me to do an episode of the podcast over the telephone with a script he wrote to me on email, so I did it.

How you began on the MTI: I was in Producer Jack’s class and because of that, we had to work on a group project together and I was at his place to work on the project, but I wanted a can of coke but since Jack is an ass, he didn’t get me one unless I agreed to guest host an episode of the podcast. To much of my dismay of doing the podcast initially, I actually enjoyed doing it after I finished my first episode! I made my comeback in the summer of 2012 and appeared as a guest host on a MTI Top 50 Countdown. I also sent a shoutout for the 200th MTI Countdowns episode and appeared on the MTI Top 50 Countdown again in summer of 2013.

How you began on the MTI: I am a good friend of Producer Jack’s (same middle + high school) and still am so he asked me to do an episode back in the spring of 2012. After that, I was asked to be a guest host who would usually come on whenever my assistance was needed.  Aside from hosting, I have also done lots of bug fixes for the website, yes including the one you’re looking at right now!

How you began on the MTI: I was with Petry and Producer Jack in our YouTube videos (which date back to 2006). I was asked to help out on the MTI Countdowns in mid 2012, but I had to leave due to personal reasons. I also sent out a special hello to the new MTI website episode.

How you began on the MTI:  I was in Producer Jack’s high school classmate and since we worked on a media arts project together (it was a course called Media Arts), he thought that I would be interested in doing the podcast. Which I was! So in September 2011, we would share the same lunch or break period together and go into the hallways of our high school and do the podcast! I had to eventually call it a wrap with a special MTI Top 25 Countdown released in the May of 2013.

How you began on the MTI: I met Producer Jack the same way that Andy and Sandra did (through the China summer camp trip) and after Sandra and Andy were both introduced to the show, I was also asked to join in around the spring of 2012. I had to officially call it quits during the summer of 2013 but I did manage to give a special shout out for the 200th episode and guest host the last episode of the MTI Top 3 with Sam as it was the show I introduced when it first premiered. I was also given the opportunity to guest host the MTI Top 50 Best of 2014!

How you began on the MTI: I was classmates with Producer Jack back in our Grade 11 English class (Tim, the current host of Japan Top 10 was also in our class) and Producer Jack asked me to join the podcast around the same time Michael did. After being on the podcast for over 2 years, I decided to conclude my hosting with the MTI Top 50 Countdown for the summer of 2014.

How you began on the MTI:  I first noticed on Facebook that one of my friends, Michael (who was a previous host) was part of the podcast and I felt like that was something that I wanted to join in to do! So I was introduced to the show by Producer Jack, as we were good friends already (we’re in the same post secondary program & school plus we were classmates back in high school). After being on the show for 1 and half year, I had made the decision to the leave the show, BUT I was fortunate enough to introduce a new host to the show, who you may have heard of; NICK!

How you began on the MTI:  I started my show on the MTI Countdowns in the beginning/mid December because I listened to a few episodes since I am Sandra’s good friend and I immediately wanted to take part of it cuz I think it’s a super awesome experience! I was your primary host on the MTI Top 10 Countdowns and you also found me on other special shows, like my Francophone show, Les Decompetes MTI giving you guys the top 10 French music hits from Western Europe and Quebec! However, I did have to eventually announce my departure from the MTI Countdowns and the cancellation of my own show in September 2014.

How you began on the MTI: Well I started the show in 2008 after I decided that my previous YouTube “videos” which dates back to 2006, were not working out (like the team pretty much broke up) so I felt like doing a side project known as the MTI Podcast and here I am now! Who knew this project turned out so successful?

Last appearance on the MTI Countdowns: Current Host

How many episode(s) did this person host: 5 (as of February 2015)

How you began on the MTI: I was actually part of Producer Jack’s previous YouTube team and when he started the podcast, he featured me on one of the first few episodes, as I was at his house at that time. We kinda lost touch with each other for a few years, but I made my come back in the summer of 2013, hosting the MTI Top 50 Countdown marking the podcast’s 5th year anniversary! And I have made the decision to become a full time host on the MTI Countdowns starting in March 2015!

When did they start: October 30, 2010

Last appearance on the MTI Countdowns: Current host.

How many episode(s) did this person host: 159 (as of February 2015)

How you began on the MTI: I was at Producer Jack’s house back in October 2010 (it was literally Halloween) with Andy (below) and he asked myself and Andy to do an episode of the podcast! We met in the summer of 2010 from a China summer camp trip and we were gathering at his place for a mini reunion. It was initially just something casual that I agreed to doing, but it eventually continued on after Producer Jack asked me to do some future episodes! I began my hosting on the MTI Countdowns but after starting my own show which you should hear me on, Japan Top 10, I moved away from the MTI Countdowns and began to solely focus towards Japan Top 10.

How you began on the MTI: See Sandra’s commentary into how myself and I met Producer Jack, I won’t repeat anything she stated. The difference between my situation and Sandra’s was that I actually quit the show after doing 2 episodes in late 2010 and I kept it that way until January 2013, in which I began to be a regular on the show again (with the exception of the MTI Top 50 Summer of 2012, which I held a small guest host role). I am now focused only towards my show, KTop10 and I am no longer with the MTI Countdowns.

How you began on the MTI: As I was one of Sandra’s closest friends, I was first intrigued by the podcast when I saw the logo that Producer Jack made back in the spring of 2012 and how it was not very professional looking. So I made a new logo for the show and that’s how I sorta began my stint on the show. Later that year in the fall of 2012, Producer Jack asked me to be on the podcast because he needed new hosts to join. I agreed and I’ve been on the show since then! And I’ve also switched from being on the MTI Countdowns to our sister show, Japan Top 10 (where you can find me)!

How you began on the MTI: I am very good friends with our Producer Jack (we were in the same junior high and high school) and he asked me to join on the podcast in the end of 2012 to begin hosting on the start of 2013. So I agreed and I’ve been on the show since then!

How many episode(s) did this person host: 39 (as of February 2015)

How you began on the MTI: I first met Producer Jack in Chinese night school classes back in grade 9 and back then, I was actually shown the podcast when I went over to his place to do a project. But back then, I wasn’t interested in being a host on the show. And that changed in the spring of 2013 as I agreed to start hosting the show, when Producer Jack asked again for me to be on the podcast because he needed a host to be on the MTI Top 5 CountUp’s. And I’ve been on the podcast since then, being on all of our various shows!

Last appearance on the MTI Countdowns: Current host.

How many episode(s) did this person host: 33 (as of February 2015)

How you began on the MTI: I was asked by Producer Jack in early December to help Sandra out on the Japan Top 10 Countdowns because he believed that I was a perfect fit for the show. I joined because I know how interesting doing this show will be and I love being part of the MTI Countdowns crew and bringing everyone the best J-Pop hits! I knew Producer Jack the same way as our previous host, Zoe did! We had the same grade 11 English class and we were involved with group projects back then!

How many episode(s) did this person host: 19 (as of February 2015)

How you began on the MTI: I found out about the podcast after Sandra shared an episode of Japan Top 10 on her Facebook profile and I really wanted to join the podcast after that because I’m really into dancing and singing! But even though the podcast has nothing related to those 2 things, it is nice to doing something with my voice on the show right?

How you began on the MTI: I was aimlessly wandering about on Gould St. on Ryerson’s campus when I bumped into Angela Cheng, a previous host from MTI. She thought that it’d be fitting to introduce me since I’m studying Radio and Television Arts. I’m actually streaming into TV Studio production instead of radio production, but don’t tell anyone that. I’m currently on the MTI Countdowns along with all of our other current hosts!

How you began on the MTI: Well I’m actually in Producer Jack’s undergraduate program and I was his classmate during our third year of the program. He found out that I was a big fan of K-Pop music and asked me if I was interested in doing my own radio show that featured the biggest K-Pop hits. And of course, I agreed and here I am! You’ll find me on KTop 10 with our other host, Andy!
